History
Cambridge has been occupied as far back as the Bronze Age.Attractions. The University was formed in 1209 although the town did not receive City status until 1951. Links with the university have spawned the Cambridge Footlights - introducing us to Monty Python and the 'Not the Nine O'Clock News' team and also innovative technology Companies such as Sinclair and Acorn (now ARM)
Attractions
Tourism is a big part of Cambridge's economy with many of the University Colleges open to the Public at set times. The river Cam gets crowded with punts during the summer and its banks full of pepole picnicing and watching the world go by. If you are visiting, then walking or cycling is strongly advised. The town centre streets are not very conducive to motor vehicles.
Cambridge Folk festival is on of the largest in the UK and has, over the years, showcased many newcomers that have since gone on to greater fame.
